ALBA Storage Ring Reaches 100 mA

In the previous month, the ALBA Synchrotron Light Source in Barcelona successfully started Storage Ring commissioning. After having tested the entire machine protection system, a beam of 100mA has been reached in the storage ring. ALBA is optimized for high photon flux density with a beam emittance of 4.5 nm.rad and a large number of straight sections for Insertion Devices in a relatively small circumference of 268.8 m. The fast start-up has shown that all the three accelerators (Linac, Booster and Storage Ring) are working according to plans.

ALBA is equipped with the 162 Libera Brilliance units and it will also use the Libera Bunch-by-Bunch feedback system. We congratulate the ALBA colleagues on this success.
