The new Libera Photon beam position processor was successfully tested on blade-based detectors at Synchrotron SOLEIL and on ionization chamber by the ALBA team at ESRF. The newest member of the Libera family is designed to work with detectors monitoring photon beams and provide additional input together with electron beam position processors in the fast global orbit feedback. In addition to being used at the beamline front end position on storage rings, this instrument may also be used directly on the beamline to build the local feedback.
We would like to thank the teams from SOLEIL, ALBA and ESRF for all their help and feedback in the development phase. The first Libera Photon units will be delivered to the users at the beginning of 2010. If you would like to test the functionalities at your machine please contact us for a tryout unit.
Libera Brilliance Single Pass is an electron beam position processor for single pass applications. The first production units have been successfully installed at the first part of the FERMI@elettra machine. The installation came after extensive testing at ELETTRA, SPARC and DAFNE (operating in LNF Frascati).
Libera Brilliance Single Pass enables stable and precise measurement of the beam position for FEL machines, as well as LINACs and transfer lines at synchrotron light sources. Together with fast communication protocols (e.g. Gb Ethernet), it is a reliable and deterministic building block for building fast-feedback or feed-forward loops.
Thanks to the groups for their fruitful collaboration! IHEP (China) and ESRF (France) will be the next two customers that will use the products on their machines. In June of this year, the digital RF stabilization system (Libera LLRF) was tested at FLASH, DESY’s Free Electron Laser (FEL). Three units successfully controlled the 24 acceleration cavities and 72 RF signals were acquired and processed in real time, enabling the FEL to laze. The initial results in the accelerator environment show high performance RF field stabilization. The number of Libera Workshop participants is growing every year. There were 29 participants from 15 labs. Thanks to all who attended this year’s workshop, and a special thanks to those who presented their experiences with Libera instruments.
