Registration for the 4th Libera Workshop starts today
This year the Libera Workshop will take place from 13-15 October. The first day is reserved for the hands-on Libera training and is optional. It is dedicated to all of you who want to learn about the product’s functionality by playing with Libera under the guidance of our support team. The second and the third day are planned for the users’ contributions, presentations and lectures, and for the discussion sessions.
To know more visit: http://www.i-tech.si/products.php?meni1=8. We would be pleased if you sent us your comments and a list of issues that you think should be discussed during the workshop. You can do all this as well as register writing to: mojca.strehar@i-tech.si.
Join us and exchange your ideas with the experts from the growing Libera community! As always, we will do our best to make your stay in Slovenia the most useful and enjoyable.
Building the bunch-by-bunch feedback
Bunch-by-bunch feedback is essential for every machine to achieve its design goal. To easy the designing of your bunch-by-bunch feedback we are constantly improving and broadening the array of the Libera products to be employed in dumping the coupled bunch instabilities.
The last autumn Libera Bunch-by-Bunch Release 1.80 brought two important improvements: processing core with graphical user interface module, and FPGA development kit, which allows you to develop your own code. The processing core successfully passed the on-site tests at Diamond, where together with Dr.-Ing. Guenther Rehm we closed the bunch-by-bunch loop. Hereby we would like again to thank Dr.-Ing. Guenther Rehm for sharing with us his beamtime and his experience in the field.
Check here other important novelties that the Release 1.80 brings as well as the advantages you can usufruct from as the Upgrades&Support subscriber: http://www.i-tech.si/products.php?meni2=37&meni1=7&menu1_naslov=Upgrades%20&%20Support.
In the past we only were able to support the machines with the harmonic number that is divisible by four. With the introduction of the new Libera Bunch-by-Bunch/S option (based on a new 500 MHz clock frequency), Libera Bunch-by-Bunch supports all the machine types. Check the details here: http://www.i-tech.si/products.php?meni2=41&meni1=11&menu1_naslov=Bunch-by-Bunch%20System.
Since we decided to discontinue the successful RFTF (RF Front End for Transverse feedback) a couple of years ago we were constantly faced with the request for its substitute. We are now launching a brand new Libera Bunch-by-Bunch Front End. Please check the main advantages of this signal-processing module for the bunch-by-bunch feedback here: http://www.i-tech.si/products.php?meni2=42&meni1=11&menu1_naslov=Bunch-by-Bunch%20System.
One important goal is thus reached – with the Libera family products you can close the bunch-by-bunch feedback loop. The future developments now entirely depend on you. Become an “Upgrades&Support” package subscriber and communicate us your ideas, needs and requests through the Libera Wish List (http://www.i-tech.si/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34) or directly to our technical support team (mailto:support-tech.si).
New user-friendly pricing for the fast global orbit feedback building blocks
Libera Gigabit Ethernet Interface and Libera Grouping have been primarily intended for the fast global orbit feedback and thus mostly interesting for large machines, which are completely equipped with Libera and are to set-up their fast feedback.
There is, nevertheless, a growing demand for this useful fast feedback building blocks coming from the users that only own small quantities of Libera Brilliance / Libera Electron units. We are introducing a new price policy for Libera Gigabit Ethernet Interface and Libera Grouping that allows users with a smaller numbers of Libera units the opportunity to also benefit from fast feedback systems. From 22 April pricing will be based on a per-unit basis. This eliminates the financial barrier that may have prevented users with less units, or those doing initial testing with Libera, access to these possibilities. Meanwhile, larger users benefit from a lower per-unit license fee.

TLS – yet another machine fully equipped with Libera
With recently purchased Libera Brilliance units the Taiwan Light Source has finished its BPM system upgrade. They are thus joining 7 other machines (Soleil, Diamond, Australian Synchrotron, Elettra, ALBA, SSRF, Petra III) which are (or are to be) fully equipped with this advanced electron beam position processor that can be used during commissioning, regular operations and for machine physics studies and fast global orbit feedback. In addition there are other 17 accelerators using Libera around the world.
