Editorial
We always wanted the I-Tech newsletter to be informative and concise, to bring you useful news but not take up too much of your precious time. We have now come to the point where we realize that in publishing only six issues per year we cannot fulfill these objectives anymore. We decided to add three more numbers and thus "visit" you nine times per year. Enjoy the reading!

1000th Libera – Note from Rok Ursic, founder and CEO
Our story is written in chapters, and each chapter‘s contents form a unified whole. Last year, with the signing of the contracts for the equipment for the SSRF accelerator in Shanghai, China, and for the ALBA accelerator in Barcelona, Spain, we concluded an important chapter in our story of success – the thousandth Libera was sold! Our product is a global success, as evidenced by the fact that designers of all five synchrotron accelerators currently being developed or launched in various parts of the world have decided to use it, and it is highly probable that it will also be used in the accelerators being developed in the United States, Europe and Asia. Particle accelerators are world "gems" and sources of national pride for the countries that develop and operate them. We are proud to consider the experts working there as our dear friends. They are generators of ideas and state-of-the-art research achievements, and it is also thanks to their confidence that we have become a key actor in this community.

Re-launch of the Libera Bunch-by-Bunch with the opening of the source code
The Libera Electron played the key role in this success story. Now the second member of the Libera Family is on the way – the Libera Bunch-by-Bunch. ESRF, as the launch customer, actively participated in its development and shared with us very precious hands-on experience and know-how. The latest users, on the other hand, are reporting out-of-the–box, straight-through functionality, which allows them to immediately implement their control and/or filtering algorithms.
Having discussed the opening of the source code with people from different accelerators, we realized that the community would very much appreciate this gesture. We thus opened the entire FPGA and software code, and now we distribute them as a source together with the Libera Bunch-by-Bunch.

Minister of the Economy of the Republic of Slovenia visits Instrumentation Technologies
With one thousand Liberas sold around the world, we started a new chapter in new facilities with a reinforced team. We wanted to celebrate these important milestones with the local community as well. We were very pleased that numerous eminent people joined us at the ceremony, together with Nicolas Hubert, a representative of Soleil, which was the first light source to choose Libera. The official speech was held by Mr. Andrej Vizjak, minister of the economy of the Republic of Slovenia, who outlined the company’s expertise, innovative spirit, constant growth, global connections and involvement in the local community. Mr. Vizjak was followed by another honored speaker, Dr. Carlo Rizzuto, president of Sincrotrone, Trieste, Italy.
Let me finish this "special edition" report with the words of Rok Ursic:"We invite you to join us on our exciting journey!"
