Hadron Beam Position Processor Tested at RHIC
The new generation beam diagnostics
instrumentation for heavy particle accelerators was first tested at the
Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) at the Brookhaven National
Laboratory (BNL). Tests performed at RHIC in February proved the Libera
Hadron to be an invaluable tool in performing high-resolution
measurements in circular hadron machines. You can read the detailed
report from the testing at: http://www.i-tech.si/accelerators-instrumentation/publications.
Libera Hadron’s basic functionality includes high resolution
single-pass measurements, individual-bunch transversal position and
charge measurements, and very high resolution turn-by-turn position
measurements. The system also supports advanced features, including
precise beam arrival time measurements; fast acquisition (typically 10
kHz) position streams on dedicated output for fast feedback purposes, as
well as bunch-map and bunch-fill pattern measurements.
