Beam Lifetime Measurements at ESRF

ESRF diagnostics team is able to measure electron beam lifetime using Libera Brilliance. The measurements use the sum signals of 224 units located on the ESRF storage ring. The lifetime measurements from Liberas are averaged, resulting in excellent measurement accuracy. This is important for evaluating properties and stability of a storage ring. The method yields faster measurements as well if compared to classic methods. The study also provided clearer information about the quality of the vacuum and the nature of lifetime accidents.
